Yeaaay Chief Reinhold. Congratulations! Knew you had it comin' to you. Thanks for all you did for the Police Department and the town. We appreciate it. Too bad the others didn't.

I really don't like to see the money go in the manner that it did. Whether you or I did or did not like the chief, he still serves at the pleasure of the mayor, and by extension, the town. So if the boss decides the chief must go, he needs to map it out by the numbers.
If the powers that be decide they want to fire someone, they should at the least find out how to do it in a manner involving the least chance of repercussions.
Almost sounds like a job for the Civil Service Commission. Mapping the criteria for firing, before hiring could be useful.

I agree with the way the money went, if the Town was to do things right we wouldn't have to worry about that. The Chief of Police for the Town of Ruston does not work at the pleasure of the Mayor, the Chief of Police for the Town is a Civil Service employee and can only be released for just cause, thats the reason the Town paid. I agree with the comment, the Mayor needs to map out a plan, it's called doing things right. The real problem with the old Chief was not the Chief it was the Mayor. Screw up / pay up.
