So how about this as a starter topic for this section...
Citizen's Auxiliary Police
In order to improve safety and compliance in the town, and to assist our police department during busy times (such as the Taste of Tacoma, July 4th, New Years, etc...) we could set up a volunteer group of citizens to assist with making sure everyone is safe and not breaking the law.
Don't get me wrong, this is not a "spy on your neighbor" network but more of a volunteer group of people who would keep watch on things as an extra set of eyes, and then call the authorities if something was wrong.
Here are some examples as to how this would be used:
During the Taste of Tacoma, these volunteers could walk around once in a while to make sure visitors weren't parking in front of fire plugs and driveways and other places where parking is not allowed. They could perhaps assist with directing traffic on our small streets.
During July 4th they could make sure that folks are safe with the right kinds of fireworks and watch out for kids blowing up garbage cans and shooting bottle rockets onto rooftops.
What do you think? Let's debate!

That's okay, but I would like to see an idea that involves the whole town. Clean your curb day, clean up 51st or Pearl, maybe something with Halloween?? I wish I had ideas, aren't there people out there with ideas?

What dangerous horrors are happening that suggest the need for citizen police? The thought of citizen police is dispiriting.
