I've gotten some comments on the Ruston Home blog about the new mayor and the meeting last night that don't quite hit the "be nice" standard I ask for. So I thought I'd post them here where anyone can say anything. Enjoy!
On the candidates:
- Look at each person and the bias they have. Look ... Look at each person and the bias they have. Look carefully, because we are in trouble. We need some honest, hardworking true giver type, not the yuppie complainer, or the belligerent brute and not the less than intelligent councilman. Come on, Lyle, please apply.
- Let's give them something to choose from.
I remember when Bruce Hopkins showed a video to th... I remember when Bruce Hopkins showed a video to the town council about the Unicorn tavern....but there was a little problem. Mr Hopkins presented the video as being taken from inside his house and complained about the "loud" patrons he could hear inside the house, but to anyone who has stood on his front porch, you'll know where the video was really taken from. Not so loud after all were they? I wonder, does lying make him a shoo-in for the Mayor's job?
- Wheeler is the most qualified person there.
- no, it's whomever belongs in the breakfast club that is most qualified.
On the council's selection:
- Yah, you bet. Another Cabal victory! Yah, you bet. Another Cabal victory!
- We all saw how far that got him.How pathetic it wa... We all saw how far that got him.
How pathetic it was to see Queen bee and the others radicule Mr Wheeler. OH! but he did have the answers for finding money for sewer/street light repair.
- Wow a outspoken critic of a bar becomes mayor. Wow... Wow a outspoken critic of a bar becomes mayor. Wow he must be qualified. Forget the former mayor and police chief Kim Wheeler. We have a guy who is the community advocate against the local bar so he is way more qualified.
- It was nice to see Mary at the meeting. She put in... It was nice to see Mary at the meeting. She put in a good word for Mr Hopkins and spoke highly of former mayor Wheeler. Eddy also added her positive thoughts on the canidates. It is refreshing to see people put aside their differances and heal. (From what I hear Mary and Edie were not at all supportive of Wheeler, so my guess is that this comment is probably intended as sarcasm)
