Hire a non smoker this time. It will cut down on the manditory union smoke breaks. I know ...I know. Jobs for Just Us will be picketing (smoking)outside Town hall. We better provide a butt can and trash reciptical for them.Stack Hill is starting to look a little ragged. Thats what happens after a year of non productive protesting.

Frankly, Miss Carlyle has been a lightning rod in Ruston and has been the subject of debates over her dealings with the public during the years she has been here. There are those who have strong complaints as well as others who like her work. Change is good and this is a good development for the sake of peace making in town, in my opinion.

I, for one, am relieved that Karen C has resigned. As a 12 year resident of Ruston, I have been treated indifferently or rudely by her whenever I have been to Town Hall. Maybe it's long term burn out on her part, but still, I and other residents deserve courtesy when we interact with Town Hall. I don't have anything against Karen, but I just don't think she is well suited to do the job. I hope she is happier in her next position.

I read these posts about no respect from Karen at Town Hall. I go on record to say I have not encountered that problem at all. Yes, Karen defiantly has that New York edge which I enjoy and I will honestly miss the banter that goes with it . Karen, I wish you all the best in your new pursuits and THANK YOU for your strength and endurance against all the challenges Ruston threw at you. d**n, it will look good on your resume! Best wishes! One of the two harpies of Winnifred Street will be gone. I think there's hope!

Karen's never been qualified enough to be 'up' to the challenges of her job.

I agree, I think Virginia, Sally,or Lisa would be much better at the job. If the Mayor is smart he would recruit one of these.

Karen dished back what was given to her most of the time. If you didn't get the sweet smile you wanted at town hall, maybe you should have been a bit sweeter yourself. I give her credit for surviving as many different administrations as she did.
And none of the Ruston Connection gang are "qualified" to handle the town books - and don't expect politeness if any of them are in the office. Talk about a scary idea!

I don't know about lucky.... I believe I am open and get a kick out of differing styles of communication. We "all" have our good & bad days; if you go looking for the bad, you will find it. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and be thankful for the difficult times ~ for that is when we grow.

I would love to see Sally or Virginia get the job, then we could treat them like their husbands treated Karen. The way they write on these blogs, just think what they could do with Ordinances.

I don't think anyone was looking for a "sweet smile" from Karen - a basic level of professionalism would have been sufficient for most. Not that this town has a track record of hiring the best and the brightest. Remember Huitt-Zollars?
But getting lectures from Beth and her friends on "getting what you give" is a little like Mr. and Mrs. Ladies Workout Express telling a neighbor to tidy up his front yard. I'd use the word hypocrisy except it would probably be a tad too big for Beth and Co. to understand.

Virginia? She can't even keep tabs on her husband/scooter rider.
