Can someone explain to me why this town can't recycle glass?

There is no market in glass, and it's handling is very problematic. At times it ends up in the dump because there's no market. The colors of glass make it harder too. Picking it up creates more problems, it breaks and then it can't be separated into the different colors. If you really want to recycle glass you can take it to the recycling area at the Tacoma landfill.

I thought Ruston passed out a bunch of recycling bins a few years back to start a new recycling program?
What does Ruston currently recycle? Is it just aluminum and newspapers at this time?
Considering that many products are still purchased in glass such as beer, wine, some liquors, juices, medicine, chemicals, vinegar, spices, perfumes, some cleaners, as well as broken dishes, windows, and other items, it would only make sense to recycle them.
If Ruston decides to eventually recycle glass, I'm all for it. How about bringing this up as a topic at the next town meeting? Maybe there is a representative or advocate who would be willing to discuss this at a meeting?

You can recycle paper, paper board, newspaper, aluminum cans and #1 and 2 plastics with a neck. It's pretty convenient for me and I have less in my garbage can.
